ATA Mare Inspection October 2007

Registration:  American Trakehner Association.  Karoline’s Traum is an ATA registered Anglo-Trakehner mare that was inspected and approved into the ATA’s Preliminary Stud Book (PSB) in 2007.  Her foals by approved ATA stallions are eligible to be registered and branded as pure bred Trakehners and therefore are also eligible for stud book inspection at 3 years of age or older.

Description:  Karoline’s Traum is a lovely older mare that has served as an enthusiastic jumping and dressage mount as well as a broodmare.  She is a lovely, naturally collected mover which loved to jump and was ridden by adults and children alike.  Her riding career was cut short by a freak pasture accident which damaged her hock.  She underwent surgery and after a long recovery period occasionally still shows some discomfort so she has been retired to the broodmare band.  Sweet, quiet, and compliant, Karolines Traum is a pleasure to have around the farm.

Karoline's Traum is by the polish approved and imported Trakehner stallion Kartacz (Charbin xx o/o Aretina).  Kartacz was foaled in 1976 at the Polish State Stud Liski.  He was approved in Poland and was Reserve Champion of his stallion inspection.  Kartacz was used for eventing until he was imported to Mexico and later imported to the U.S.  Being a versatile stallion he was used for dressage, jumping, driving and foxhunting.  Kartacz had a limited breeding career in the U.S. and produced very few eligible female offspring inspected and approved for breeding by the ATA before his he was lost to EPM.

Kartacz brought into North America some old very athletic russian and polish bloodlines which have, in most part, been lost to American Trakehner breeding programs.  Karoline's Traum is one of the few offspring which were used for breeding and which had any registered Trakehner foals.

At nearly 20 years of age, Karoline's Traum has only ever produced one Trakehner foal, Kryptic, a 2007 stud colt by imported and approved Trakehner stallion Fandango (EH Sixtus x ES Flotte II).

Breeding/Offspring:  Before coming to Altamont Sport Horses Karoline’s Traum produced two lovely Appaloosa Sport Horses; a bay blanketed colt in 1999 and a black blanketed filly in 2000.

2007 -  Karoline’s Traum produced her first pure bred Trakehner colt (Kryptic) by ATA approved Trakehner stallion Fandango

Note:  We have not been able to get Karoline's Traum in foal for the last couple of years.  She is open for 2012 and we will continue to try.
