Registration:  "Mikasa" is registered with the Appaloosa Sport Horse Association (ApSHA).  In October 2013 Mikasa was inspected an approved by the Knabstrupperforeningen for Danmark (KNN) for producing Knabstrupper foals when bred to approved Knabstrupper stallions.

Description:
Mikasa is a very sweet and lovely moving mare.  She is a bay suppressed leopard with all Appaloosa characteristics (striped hooves, mottled skin and white sclera).  She was started under saddle as a 3 year old, has some professional training and has been ridden intermittently although her primary use has been breeding.  Mikasa has come to Altamont Sport Horses on a breeding lease to produce Appaloosa Sport Horses.   Thank you to Infinity Farm of Amsterdam, NY for allowing us to breed Mikasa.

This big girl is just so kind and gentle.  She gets along well in the herd and is always patient.  She is built for dressage or eventing with good conformation and a powerful hind end.  She has phenomenal reach and impulsion as you would expect with her dam being a standardbred trotter.  Mikasa also has the large boned, foundation Appaloosa heritage with the movement and substance of a warmblood (but with spots).  Mikasa's full siblings are doing quite well in jumping competition.

Breeding/Offspring:  Mikasa had one foal before coming to Altamont Sport Horses.

2006 - bay, near leopard filly by Butterwap Confetti

2008 - Mikasa produced a big handsome solid chestnut colt by Macha Breeze RID  on 5/19/08.  This Irish Draught Sport Horse gelding, Machado, will be registered with the IDHSNA.  Check back soon for photos.  This gelding is offered for sale.  Please contact us if you are interested in learning more.

2010 - Mikasa acted as an embryo recipient mare for our purebred Trakehner foal by Holster and out of Ala.  She foaled May 2010.

2012 - Open

2013 - Mikasa had a solid bay but gorgeous Knabstrupper filly by our approved Knabstrupper stallion Ambrosius af Asgard "Atlantis".  Foaled 03/11/2013  This filly was inspected by the KNN with good scores for type, conformation and movement in October 2013.

2014 - Mikasa is in foal to Atlantis for a full sibling to our 2013 filly.

Enjoying a good roll.
